Kalavasos will host a unique cultural event on Friday, 24 April 2026, as it welcomes the Poetry Day in collaboration with the 5th International Poetry Festival of Larnaka.

Under the theme “Lyrics that Unite the World”, the event celebrates poetry as a universal language—bringing together literature, community, and cultural identity across different spaces within the village.

The programme unfolds across three sessions, guiding visitors through a meaningful journey that connects poetry with place, memory, and public space.

1st Session – Pavlos Neocleous Square (11:00 – 13:45)

The day begins with reception, registrations, and coffee, followed by official welcome addresses and greetings.

The session continues with presentations dedicated to two important literary figures:

  • Kostas Montis
  • Pavlos Pikrodafnis

The programme is enriched by a performance from the Primary School children, along with poetry recitations and the presentation of a monument design inspired by poetic couplets.

After a short break with snacks, participants will transfer to the next location.

2nd Session – Poets Park (14:00 – 16:15)

The second part of the event focuses on the relationship between poetry and public space.

Highlights include:

  • The official naming of the Poets Park
  • Recitations of couplet poems inspired by Kostas Montis
  • The naming of Pavlos Pikrodafnis Street

The session concludes with a period of free time, allowing visitors to explore and experience the space.

3rd Session – Pavlos Neocleous Square (16:30 – 18:30)

The final session returns to the central square for:

  • The naming of Kostas Montis Street
  • A round table discussion
  • The official closing of the event

Poetry Day in Kalavasos is more than a series of readings—it is a cultural journey that connects literature with community life, transforming public spaces into living expressions of poetic identity.
